We provide a safer and supportive path for those choosing private donation, backed by strict community guidelines, education, and active moderation.

Why it matters

Private Donation as a Choice, or Only Option

Millions of single women, queer couples, and individuals face high costs, restrictive regulations, or limited access to traditional fertility services. At the same time, many donors want more control over who they donate to, how often they donate, and what role, if any, they have after. Many simply want a more personal experience, whether that means meeting the person behind the donation, staying in touch, or exploring co-parenting. Y factor exists for people who choose private donation as their first option, or their only one, giving future parents and donors more choice in how they build a family.

Built on over 40 years of experience in the fertility industry

Y factor is based in Copenhagen, Denmark, and was started by Ole Schou, founder of Cryos International, the world's largest sperm bank. With over 40 years of experience in the fertility industry, he recognised first-hand the need for a more inclusive alternative to traditional sperm banks. Ole founded Y factor to provide this alternative, creating a service that emphasises personal connections and gives users control through a transparent process.
